Thanks for the feedback! I feel better knowing the Castrol GTX Semi-Syn I put in there is ok. I will probably change it end of season and go with a JASO MA certified oil.

I had no idea Wal-Mart sold that Actevo by Castrol... I have a smaller format Wal-Mart than I've seen compared to most. I'll check the other one nearby and see if they have it.

Hey there, running twin 215 SCICs. Doing oil change this year vs mechanic, holy cow so many oil types and hard to find some because they're old post. I'm looking for 10w40 but what type? All i'm getting is brands not specific. Would like to run synthetic or synth blend being as less than 100 hours on engines. Thoughts? what specif oil should I look at? not interested in AMSoil, bad experience with my truck. pictures are great, makes it easier to match up.

      Thanks in advance

What model year are the engines?

Before we talk about oil, when were those superchargers last serviced/rebuilt?

        Within the last two years?

Regarding oil, is there a reason for not using the BRP recommended oil?

Hey K447, thanks for the reply, had new (not reman) SBT engines and Superchargers with metal washers little over year. wont go down the rabbit hole of why the engine change. when I emailed SBT they were pretty vague on oil, said yeah use a good quality synth or semi-synth 10w40 for four-stroke motorcycle or can use the xps, they recommended Valvoline but nothing specific with price. I had someone recommend an XPS in other forum but it was only avail in 5w not the 10w they recommend.

In the summer, there is no difference between 5W or 10W. There are some good threads on the best oils available and their relative values. Use the search feature under the 4tec forum. If you can't find the threads, let us know.

Why use something other than XPS. There are several "better" oils for less money. I don't mind spending money where needed, but I won't spend more for the same or less quality because it has a BRP or Yamaha sticker on the bottle.

Use the search feature under the 4Tec heading. There are a few really educational threads on the subject.
Almost any good 5W or 10W/40 JASO M rated oil will be fine.

My favs are Rotella T6, Mobil 1 Racing 4T, Amsoil Marine, Valvoline Syn motorcycle in the silver bottle. You can also use the BRP 5W40 semi.

I am a big fan of Rotella T6. I used to use Mobile 1 in my old wrx and would hear lots of valvetrain noise even after a oil change. Switched to T6 and it quieted right down. Been using it ever since in my cars and my rxtx300. Its also nice that you can find it anywhere, Autozone, Advance, Wallmart.
