2007 RXP.
Hit a submerged log a couple of days ago. didn't see it, and was going fairly fast.
Need help with procedure. I've read through a number of threads, and I understand about grinding through to something solid. The center of the damage, where the most fiberglass is missing, is soft. I'm guessing this is the inside layer of fiberglass. This spot is under the shelf to the front of the fuel tank. So, from inside, cannot see anything.
Do you just start grinding (turning everything into dust) or try to strategically cut out the delaminated parts without cutting through the whole hull.
I'm going to use epoxy resin with fiberglass matt. I could also repair with kevlar. Is this way overkill?
At the end, when you've filled out with the resin and matt, is it ok to use automotive bondo to smooth out the surface matching surrounding and then gel coat? or is there better way?
thanks for any advice.
