  • 7.8 Inch Display Reviews

Let me start with, I hate stereo noise at the lake. I don't want to play my own and I certainly don't want to hear someone else's music. I took the speakers off my 21 PX and sold them.

That being said, What's the opinion on the 7.8 display? I heard everything about it being great to a bothersome split screen that is difficult to synch to your phone and other apps. The tech package is an option on the PX, but standard now on the other 300 models. If you like the screen and sound, the $1k premium will be worth it. I'm think that since I don't do music at the lake, I may save the grand especially if the engine info is the same as the smaller dash. Does the bigger screen give us back a better tach and engine temp like the 18-19 dash?

I like my 2017 RXP display. Better tach more user friendly. I don't want to be bothered by my phone when riding my 2022 RXT so I don't synch the phone. Launch control is nice. With my Turbo on the 2022 I don't need to use it. Nothing can keep up. I can give you a 2 ski whole shot and then blow by you. Lol

The tach on my 18 PX has 10 rpm increments. On my 21 PX, its 100 rpm which is just a joke if you really want to know how a tuning change is working out.

Does the 7.8 screen provide better rpm info or just the same 100 increment?

Trying to tune via a tach is far from ideal. You need data-logging to tune properly.

I don't AFR tune, but I do like to see subtle changes in rpm based on air temp and pressure. Even body position can make some rpm changes that will not always show on the speedo. The ECM knows exactly what the rpm is, why not show it on the tach like the earlier dashes?

If the 7.8 just shows the same info, what's the point? Color? If you split the screen with engine info only on one side, the readout maybe smaller than the base dash anyway.

I hear ya.....i'm not a fan of the new dash. I like the analog gauges on my ski, but the numerical portion between the Speedo and Tach is great for afr, boost, and engine temps via DashPak. Don't know why Seadoo found the need to move away from the older dashs.

Maybe designed by the same BRP engineer that gave us Turn Signals???

I got a 2022 RXT-X with the new 7.8" display when BRP released the new display in the 2021 GTX Limited I was hoping it would make it to the RXT-X for 2022 and it did, the display, the triple black colour and the larger 70L fuel tank sold me so I put my deposit down right after the 2022's were released. My previous SeaDoo was a 2015 RXT-X and I had no issue at all with the analog style gauges I preferred these to the cheapo looking 7.6" LCD display I actually held off buying a new machine as I really didn't like the LCD display it looked so cheap and tacky it reminded me of the early LCD dashboards in cars 25 years ago.

I'm in Canada and the 2022 RXT-X comes with the tech package I wanted the 7.8" display with no audio but it came as a package so I now have audio. I like the new display it shows more info than the analog gauges and the ability to push a map onto the right screen is a nice feature the BRP app can be a little fiddly to connect until you have used it a few times I don't use the audio much because cruising above about 20mph the volume has to be cranked in order to hear anything over the wind and engine noise. I can't comment on the speed or rpm increments as I'm not that bothered the basic info is all there and I have only ridden a ski with the 7.6" dash for about 15 min so no real comparison there.

                  Thanks Canuck.
I guess that I could sell the speakers like from my 21.
Do you need the speakers for any functions on the 7.8 inch color dash other than music?

I can't see how removing the speakers would affect any dash functions they are only there to play music. Have you thought about removing the speakers but keeping them for installation at resale ?

I just received my depth sensor, which has been backordered for months, the new display will show this info along with all the other info instead of picking what you wanted displayed on the center LCD section of the old analog gauges. I guess I have been spoiled with the displays that are available on the newer higher end motorcycles most of them have nice colour rendition, good info layout and are able to be customized to some degree that's why the 7.6" LCD display BRP used with the turn signals, high beams and ABS symbols still visible although faint was a real turn off for me.

I am following this informative discussion with great interest since I need to replace my '17 RXT-260 which was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. Does anybody know exactly what the "Tech" package includes? I'm a purist and don't need sound or connectivity since I don't own a cell phone. Riva has both '22 and '23 models available and I'm focusing on an RXT-X 300. Are there any differences between the two?

The Tech Package is the new 7.8 color dash with its connectivity and audio speakers. To my knowledge, you can not buy a RXT without Tech for 23. The only 300 that can be ordered with the base dash and no sound is the RXP.

The only difference between 22 and 23 is the price, colors and graphics are unchanged. There is zero percent financing on the 22.

I'm happy I got a 2022 model as the 2023 RXT-X comes with iDF with is a feature I'm not interested in. The 2023 GTX 300 gets the 7.6" display, optional audio and no Idf.

I don't see anything about IDF on the RXT listed on Sea Doo's website. The GTX Limited shows IDF as a feature.
I was told by my dealer that the only 300 available with the smaller dash and no audio is the RXP.
