  • Spark V Tech tune and re pitch

If your are looking at a tune , then grab a V Tech but highly recommend re pitching prop to gain max Speed ..

I am using the 402 8600 tune and removed 4mm of the trailing edge which gave me a 400rpm gain ..

Hey Slasher, I am at 7600 rpm and 43 mph with 90 hp spark. I am also at 8000 feet of elevation. I need decrease my pitch by 4mm in order to get to 8000 rpm's, correct? Basically what you did just to get to stock rpm's.

I was seeing 8000rpm on the stock 90 set up and 50 mph ...

Repitch prop and seeing 8400 at 52+mph

        Yours sounds like 60hp

He's dealing with high altitude. As the water warms up, I will be also. It is amazing how much altitude sucks power.

I recently upgraded to the 402 8650 - LOve the changes in that tune from the Sport-AGR that I was running.
Top RPM hooked-up remains at 8090-8120...but the mid-range power and turn-exit throttle stabs have definitely improved.
Noticed with 402, that in rough chop - when pump catches air, common to see RPM spike between 8750 and 9xxx...wondering if that is normal/expected.?

Also, currently I'm waiting on an impeller tool to remove impeller and modify to gain more top RPM...question tho - when taking the 4mm off the trailing edge...how important is it that all blades are changed in the same way./?
Any insight on what to look or listen for upon completing this modification to verify successful operation of newly-pitched impeller would be appreciated....Thanks

Rpm spike of 500 or so rpm is reasonably normal.

The engine is good for rpm well into the 9000's

I have an intake grate on order and it didn't sound like it was going to take to much longer. Before end of month I think for sure but could be any day! Maptuner will be here Monday and on Wednesday the skat track vtech prop and skat trak stainless wear ring will be here. I should be able to do a full report if weather cooperates by next week as far as top end with the tune and that prop.
