  • Seadoo 230 Wake 430 hp high RPM issue

Just picked up a 2008 230 wake 430 hp, boat was in rough shape but got it on a good deal. Just finished getting super chargers rebuilt, new wear rings, new impellers, changed oil, and spark plugs. Its alive and running great but i am getting a check engine light one 1 motor once it hits 7k rpms and goes to limp mode.

After research seen it was possibly a exhaust temp sensor, swapped it with the other motor but has not correct the issue. Anything else to troubleshoot? trying to avoid the stealership

You say it is possibly a temp sensor - what was the code being given? are you sure it isn't overheating on the one side, you said it was in rough shape so previous owner may not have worried about where they used it and ran it shallow sucking who knows what into the exhaust cooling system and caused a blockage, wouldnt be the first time sand got in and restricted flow in an exhaust cooling line. might run it and see if the suspect side seems hotter than the other.

I thought it might have been the temp sensor so I swapped with the other motor that didn't correct the issue, could have sand or something sucked up. Would a good flush on the hose correct that?

if running it across the water didn't flush it out i doubt running it on the hose would if that is what you are referring to doing. Personally i would start at the jetpump and check the intake strainer for debris clogging it - it looks like a plastic nut on top left side of pump (if i remember correctly) unscrew it and see if there is anything in there then i would unhook the two small lines from the jpipe (the ones from the exhaust manifold) there is one on top and one on bottom then hook the hose up to the flush port and turn on the water to see if you get good flow out of those two lines - do not run the water with those two hoses on the jpipe without the motor running otherwise you can fill the waterbox and get water into the motor. if the flow looks good then i would start troubleshooting the wire harness etc. i would also search the 4tec forum for overheating issues for ideas of other things to try and check.
