  • 2005 SPORTER LE not plaining, 25mph

I towed this Doo to my house to look at it for a friend. Im not a See Doo guy, but will give it a shot. She bought it got 30 miles and then it quit achieving plaining speed, about 25 ,mph was what she was getting.
She took it to Yacht Club at the big end and they replaced the rectifier....??... but it ran good for another run, then did the same thing. She took it back to the dealer and the dude said she had no compression and they would give her 1000$ for it.

Anyways it sat for 2 years and she just wants to get rid of it. Im charging the battery now. Going to check the compression, which i bet is fine. After that, i can't seem to find stuff on the internet what would cause this. I know a wear ring could, but it would be 'more' consistent i would think.

She stated it would almost like it was dropping into learn mode.. I don't know how these switch to that. My FXSVHO requires a remote. I have the manual and will run through that.

This may be all premature, but I am curious regardless of what i find.
    thanks.

Sounds like it's overheating to me. Not sure what it does on that particular boat, limp mode? Alarm?

She could have been running in shallow water and picked up a bunch of trash or something.

Righton! I am not either. There was no alarm. I asked her some questions…… but she is a …girl.
        I appreciate the response.

update! I had time and got to it. ZERO!!! Compression. Not even 10. Don’t know how she got home against the current. I double checked my gauge against my chainsaw, it works.
I cant imagine there’s a trick to checking it. So I’ll call it dead and shoot it.

        cheer gents

          Update.
boat in water. I let it warm for a couple minutes. It would only do 10mph at 5k for a minute, while peeping. Then it shot up to 7k 55mph. I load 2 other guys for a shake down.

We ran 6-7, controlled by throttled. Then it peeped and went to 10 mph at 5k. We docked at a bar checked plugs. One was fouled/saturated. Started to think it’s a fuel delivery issue.
Did a few more checks then beered.

back in boat. Decided to hold WOT and it ran like a top for 20 minutes. Till we ran out of gas with with 1/4 registered. We were rescued, then the bilge started to take on water. Then are ground the Doo.

Picked Ed it up this morning. Engine bay full, bilge pump cranking.

I guess the the next step is to get a scan tool, to identify the code popping, along with the titanic action.

          any ideas?

I've seen the boats flood the bilge through the exhaust outlet gasket. Park it nose up and start filling the bilge with water in the yard.....check to see where it runs out.

Well…. I have to tell you..
I am Perty sure it to damn late. It sat over night submerged. I don’t see how water couldn’t have.

                that’s a good idea though!!

You'll need to pull spark plugs and crank the water out. Then put in one plug and crank a little. Then the other plug and crank a bit. Then try some carb cleaner in the plug holes and see if it lights off. If it dies just repeat the process. When you get it running, hook it up to the hose and let it sit and idle for about 5-10 minutes to get moisture out and lube the engine.

Another note I should have mentioned, something I’m gonna focus on, and you hit some in that area,
when we trailered it, water rushed out of the exhaust port. Full diameter rush of water.

I haven’t had time to look yet.

                    thanks

And, YOU NEED TO DO IT TODAY!!! Rust forms on the crankshaft & bearings very quickly.

Well, I f*cked that up. I blew the water out. Then got called away. I dropped some seefoam fogging crap in the canes put the plugs in and cranked it over for a bit….
I get on it this morning. With some luck, it won’t be more than a yard ornament!
                          thank you

The oil helped for sure. But YES, get it running ASAP.

                              I got it firing yesterday.
                              now on to the rest.

I appreciate all the input that was given.
