I went and talked to the local 3M/Dupont business. They said they can color match to the ski...All I have to do is bring in a painted part.

Just talk to a body shop employee and see where he would get paint from if he were to do a side job. There are lots of places that sell paint.

JP is right. If you cannot get the code, and it's hard with seadoos, you can bring the part in and have it scanned. They scanned the apple green hood and got the color spot on.

Seadoo codes arent impossible to find, but my paint shop was not able to cross the code over into any of the companies' codes that they dealt with.

Just make sure it comes in a spray can.. otherwise you need a paint gun and if you are not skilled in using a paint gun it is VERY messy. It blows paint everywhere.

The local 3M/Dupont store said it was $19 or $20 per can. I expect to use three cans...somewhere! That along with some cleaner/degreaser and primer.

Very nice job, it looks really nice.

I had some plastic pieces on my Kawa 1100 that were faded as well like my side mirrors. I did want to do them myself and mess with them. So I took them off and took them to a auto body shop. They painted both of them for $20 with clear coat.

I have done some painting for trim pieces before and your instructions were spot on. Good Job!

Oh, I need help. If I could just tell myself to be patient and spray several layers rather than one single glob!

I'm going to try and get this done in the next several weeks.

Rushing is a bad idea. You will end up doing it all over... trust me. Ive done it plenty of times myself and regretted it each time. The cost of materials isnt cheap either...

Great write-up. Thanks for the info.

My 750SX standup is going to go through a transformation including removing graphic color changes as well as a different hydroturf. I need to change the color of the rub rail from purple (?) to black and this thread will really help with this.

                              Thanks!
