I have read from several websites that you should not use a jack on the axle tube of a torsion suspension. I have always lifted my trailers with spring suspensions at the axle tube as far to the outside as possible. I have never dented or bent an axle. Is it actually factual that the outer tube of a torsion axle is thinner or weaker because of the torsion cords contained within the axle? The axle for a spring axle is hollow as well. What are the facts? Having to lift on the frame of the trailer makes most tow vehicle jacks worthless due to height limitations.

What brand is your torsion axle?
What does the manufacturer say about lifting?
I normally use a D-jack, fitted close to the inside tire sidewall. Triton double trailer.
Sometime I use a hydraulic jack with the lifting plate under the swing arm pivot right at the end of the axle.
Have not yet needed to do a lift with my modified Triton WC2-2 but I probably should confirm it also works.Last edited by K447; 03-07-2021, 08:19 PM. -

Its a Triton WC2-2. As a tandem, its axles are rated at 2000 pounds, (less than the single axle torsion or spring).
Using a D jack is lifting by the axle tube also.2021 RXP X 300

Look into one of these, so much easier. I use it when greasing the hubs on my 2-2 and take it on the road with me in case of a blowout. So much quicker than a jack for the dual axle.

I have seen those type of products before and they are great for tandems, but I would like to know the facts about the original question. What if I had a torsion suspension on a single axle. Where is the recommended lift point?2021 RXP X 300

I have always jacked my single torsion from the axle just inside the tire. I use a block of wood to spread the weight, never had an issue. jacked with an FZR and full fuel didn’t even flinchXLT 800 converted to 1300 EFI 74MPH FZS ET15.5 Fizzle R3 Jims FF SVHO plate 88mphComment
