Wow this is amazing work on that trailer. I have a challenge and was looking for input. I want to haul two skis and a 4 x 4 polaris sportsman at the same time. I dont want to put the quad in the back of the truck . I was thinking a double just ski trailer with a platform in the front for the quad. Drive on and off on the side. Do you have any thoughts on that?

    Thanks

    John

The PWC trailer is going to need an extra long frame or addition to stabilize and support the extra weight. Many watercraft trailers are quite narrow once you get forward of the winch towers, so something structural has to be there to keep the left and right ends of the platform from seesawing.

Then of course there is the tongue weight issue. ALL the 4x4 weight will be forward of the trailer axle, so the tongue better be able to handle the vertical weight load plus road bounce/flex.

Do you have a particular trailer in mind already?

Not very specific. i have a double Shorelander at the moment that is rated at 2600 pounds. Was thinking that a 4 foot extension in front of the skis to put the quad on. Tongue weight the hitch is a class 3. Towing with a 1/2 ton truck.
Really open to thoughts and ideas.

That might be an awful lot of weight for a skinny tongue and extension to support.

The trailer weight rating is for a load that is mostly centered over the axle.

What about these 3 place trailers? they look to be the same thing only there is a ski there.
Skinny tongue? Couldn't that be beefed up?

My 2 cents would buy a boat trailer and build what you are wanting to do. That's if it's something that you are plaining on keep awhile. I build a 4 place trailer not as nice as classic079 did but it pulled really nice and I didn't have to worry about it.

I was wondering. Would it be easier and cheaper to buy a pontoon trailer and go from there? I have 2 sitdowns (smaller) and 3 stand ups. I was thinking of putting the 2 sitdowns on back and the 3 standups sideways. Plus gas cans.

Pontoon trailers have a lower Capicity weight rating I believe

Did you build that trailer yourself?

Awesome. I have no need as I only have 1 ski, but still would love to address adding a large fuel storage area.
