Looking for pics of ideas on crafting and installing a piggy back receiver hitch to the rear of my Karavan double trailer. Appreciate any and all advice.

What will you be putting in the receiver you want to add to the rear of the trailer frame?
If towing another trailer, there are considerations regarding tongue weight shift and handling effects of the second trailer on the first.
In some areas 'towing double' is not permitted or has specific technical requirements. -
I'm in Texas I believe it's legal I see it all the time. Currently on my double I hav to SXR stand ups that yea prob will need moving up for toughness wait. Thinking on getting a new 3 seater 4 stroke to pull on a single trailer. Thx man for your advice.Comment

You need the first trailer to be much heavier than the second. Not just tongue weight but overall loaded trailer weight. The idea is that during emergency highway maneuvers or sudden braking at speed the second trailer does not 'steer' the front trailer, which in turn you don't want to be pushing the back of your tow vehicle around.Originally posted by jetskr View Post

You may have to put the big new 3 seater on the front trailer and move one of the stand ups to the second small trailer.
The hitch on the rear of the trailer must of course be properly strong and reinforced. The middle of the rear cross beam is not meant to have forward/reverse forces applied in the center so whatever you do it probably needs to run forward to the next cross beam.
You also don't want the added receiver to be applying twisting forces to the trailer cross frame.Comment

Check whether your insurance company has anything to say about double trailer towing. Both your vehicle insurance and your watercraft insurance.Comment

If that trailer has a 3x3 or 4x4 main beam under that walkboard then you're golden. Just have a welding shop mount a 2x2 receiver right into the end of it.Comment

I had a this welded to my triton. Love it! With the E-Z ski hauler. I don't tow behind it. It also has a 3/4" bolt at the frond end of the 2" square stock for insurance.Comment

I use the u bolt anti rattle bracket and it helps a lot. The bolt witch is probably 1/2" bolts through the new 2" id 18" long stock to the frame. The I can get a photo later.Comment
