  • check valve carb help

finally doing my carb rebuild and rejet ,what is the trick to replacing the check valves or are they left alone if you see no creases or defects - those rubber snubbers are a beast . On the primer block offs and "nozzle" what are most using to seal them in and do you remove the plastic inserts that were there for the choke shaft ?

Windex on the rubber, use a 2mm ball allen wrench to push it in. Do not force it use even pressure and it will go.

I use JB weld or loctite gel, when I install the primer fittings and I leave the plastic pieces in.

        Bill,

I was doing another rebuild and the manual said to make sure the blue lines on the check valves are facing the pump side. What does this mean?

        Adam

BTW Thanks for the carb parts they are a big help.Yyours are on the way.

I have heard this many times. Some say the blue line is for a reason and others just say the blue lines are there so you can spot or see the clear disc. I put them in both ways with no troubles. I cannot speak for everyone else.

I have also heard its the way it is cut and it has to be on a certain side. All the dics I have put on the pumps, the edges to too far from the metal rim to affect the sealing.

I do as the manual states, always have. Look at the disk it has been marked with a line, the side it is marked on faces up away from the valve body.

If you look in the pictures above those are from GPR carbs you see clearly there is a black line, if it was flipped it would appear more opaque. That one is being installed correctly.

The line marks the outside curl of the roll it was stamped from.

I wish to put the on going discussion of which way the ink mark on the check valve goes and why it is there to bed. I finally found an old Mikuni instruction sheet in the shop, this used to come printed on the back of the parts diagram.
