Mikuni Carb Fuel Pump Check Valve Install

Here is a file showing which way the line goes on the check valve and how to install it. I use a 2mm ball Allen wrench, some Windex or WD-40, and patience. Don't force it, finesse it.

My Friend Scott (MR-1 X 2) found this tool and bought it for me. Works like a charm, although it is a little small for my large hands. I am going to mount it in a handle.

Is this the carb that is found on my 1988 Waverunner 500? I am new to this and would like to go through it with new stuff. I am trying to figure out which post/sticky on here relates to the parts on my ski.

More than likely you have what we call the Mikuni Round body carb. is the fuel pump side round? see if this looks like the gasket and seal set needed

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Bill and all the informed posters for the invaluable information in this forum. I bought an XL800 back in 2001, basically for my kids to use. After a couple seasons, it stayed parked on the dock. I'd give it a run or two each summer, but other than yearly winterizing, it was ignored.

Two weeks ago, we had a nearby lightning strike which apparently fried my charger and the CDI unit. Suddenly, I had no spark so I found some used electronics and changed it out. Then, I couldn't get enough gas to keep it running so I decided after eleven years I should rebuild the twin carbs.

This forum gave me the confidence to do the job. I also deleted the choke plates and added a primer. It fired within seconds and runs like new.

If the pump body is full of junk and nasty or if you ruin a valve trying install it, they aren't available seperately or are hard to find,and you might have to buy another kit,or for around $21,you can buy the whole pump body assembly and it already comes with new check valves installed,it also seems to be improved with a goldish anodized finish which should be less likely to Corrode

You can buy individual parts from Atlantic jet sports they sell anything that is in the kit. as for the gold alodine coating I guarantee you it was in your carbs to begin with. seems the ethanol fuel combined with water and whatever other crap that is in the fuel love to attack it. I have seen too many carbs destroyed this way.

ohh man those damn carbs always get water in them after 600 hours or more if your in the rental business...good luck!!!
