  • [QUOTE=allstar71;1479805]I recommend replacing these o-rings. The first time the dealer fixed my clutch under warranty and they did not replace these.... My hull was full of oil pouring out around where the o-rings go. Just a word of advise...its not like they cost anything...may save you a couple bucks but I would do just as Yamaha suggests.

    -David

I wanted to point this out again as a word of advice. I actually did buy and replace the o-rings, but on installation got one of them pinched somehow. Got everything back together, filled up the engine with oil, and just happened to reach under the supercharger for a second and found all the oil i had just been pouring into the engine leaked out into the hull. Tore everything back apart after seeing where it was leaking, and found one of the o-rings had pinched and torn partially. $4 in parts and a little bit of care with these goes a long way toward keeping the oil where it belongs.

    Good luck!

    • Did this job myself last week. It's a bitch to do just because of the tight quarters and for me double because my SHO motor is inside a GPR hull. I am not mechanically inclined and was able to do it thanks to this thread. Just be patient and it's an easy job to do yourself.

How much is the clutch part cost? Just a general question, how long is the life of the OEM clutch with no modification? I am looking to pick up a new 2012+ FX SHO.

          • The cost of both parts is about 650 .00 Dollars . FYI Late production 2012 fx sho have the new 2013 heavy duty clutch in them, There is a serial # list when the change occured.

            • Here is the answer guys------------------This was a running change in mid year 2012 production skis. So only the very late 2012 will have the new clutch/gear set up in them. Only 2012 serial numbers "Higher" than on this list will come with the new gear set, `09~12 FZR up to Primary ID # F2R806400
`09~12 FZS up to Primary ID # F2C808500
`08~12 FX SHO up to Primary ID # F2S803100 Remember your 2012 ski serial # must be higher than this to have the latest gear /idler set. Tommy Jordan

All my parts should be here this week. Spent $603 freaking dollars for '13 clutch, idler, oil pump pump gasket, oil pump pump o-rings and an exhaust manifold gasket.

Oil pump bolts?? Manual says 7.4 ft-lb for all 12 bolts. Lube up the orange o-rings really well before you install the pump.
