* Never ever re-use seals
* Always use Loctite
* Be careful when buying a used crank
* If rebuild by someone else demand OEM bearings, seals and rods.
* Dont rebuild your engine with a 100+ hours tired crank.
* If rebuilding an engine with an older flywhel have it inspected and re-balance.
* Don't bother looking for another crank sealer. 3Bond 1211 is an excellent product, a bit more expensive than the others but it's affordable.

One thing to notice is how CLEAN Fernando keeps his area, while assembling. This is very critical on assembly. Take the time to clean out your work and storage area for the assembly.

Thanks for the post! I'm in the middle of a rebuild myself and have read this many times. Can you explain a little better how to lubricate the crank after it's installed. Also, how does the crank receive lubrication while running? Or are the bearings sealed and don't require external lubrication? Should extra oil be put in the bottom of the case? Thanks.

crank recieves lubrication via the oil mixed with the fuel

I use a cooking injection syringe to lube points in the motor (get at any grogery store)

#2 pic shows the holes in the cases to inject 2 cycle oil for bearings
#3 shows how to use the exhaust manifold bolts to make a stand

what is rebalancing a crank? is that something a DIY guy can do or does a machine shop have to do it? also do you recommend getting a used block sent off to a machine shop to get cleaned or can I do this at home myself?
