Run the ski dry for ~15 seconds at a time and blip the throttle up to 3k a few times. Wait an hour between running the ski do it doesnt overheat.

        Good thread.

Im new with runabouts and I got exactaly a FZR.

I was familiar with Super jets since 1995 and even running in salt water I never had problems related to this but yesterday after my first ride I was worried how hard is to clean up the FZR.

Hull compartment is too tight and U can't trow fresh water as U do on 2 stroke engines (just covering air filters).

It was my first run and I was upset how the supercharger got rusted by salt water.

I will try to get all this stuff and try to keep it clean as much as possible.

Also I perceived that the bilge system isn't able to take out the whole water...it always has some water inside because there's a ramp that doesn't permit the water to go out.

        Good videos guys.

Are the videos gone? Honestly, it will be hard for me to do to mUch of the maintenance. We had planned to leave it in the water, only lifting it up onto the boat when you go on trips.

          Still, it's worth a look.

Use a garden vac in reverse and give your ski a good blow dry, i find this stops a lot of rust from the water that sits in your bolt heads etc and keeps the ski looking like new, do this before giving it a spray with a silicon spray. Just a little tip someone might use

I don't think so! Reason I like Fluid Film is the fact it replaces the need of having silicone spray and rust inhibitors both! It works on metals just as good as it does on the rubber material.
I think once you use FF, you probably won't bother to buy anything else...

+1 Fluid Film is Lanolin based where silicone spray is silicone based. FF is awesome for metal, rubber, etc.

Excellent vid Captain. I enjoyed it and learned a couple of things. I am wondering about something though.

I do all my riding in fresh water. And i have seen a lot of guys mention that they spray the inside of the ski with silicone or fluid film or whatever, after washing it out. Is this really important? I have yet to see a drop of water inside the engine compartment. I have seen some water on the very bottom way in the back. I know its all connected, but should i be worried about the engine compartment?

Thanks so much for the kind words on the video.
To answer your question as I do mostly ocean riding (99% of my riding), when I get submerged in the water, plenty of water goes in the hull through the seats. I sometimes literally see my oil tank and and part of engine valve cover is white ( I mean all white not just spots) from salt depositing on them. This is after the ride ofcourse, so I thoroughly wash the hull!

For you I recommend that you hit the rubbers and connectors with a good spray once in a while just to keep them soft and in good shape.

Today I saw huge blue whales when I did my 82 miles ride. Nothing short of spectacular!

Man, that would be awesome to do an ocean ride and see what you have seen. I plan to do it eventually. ALL of my rides have been on the Columbia river and the Willamette river so far.

                          Thanks for the advice!
