  • How To Make Your Own T Handle Carb Screws

Wanna save some dollars and make your own high speed and low speed carb adjustment screws?? Here's how:
Find someone who owns a drill press with a vise attachment. Like this:

I found these "spring pins" (I call them roll pins) in the size I wanted to use. Size is 1/16" diameter x 3/4" long

Find a way to clamp the carb screw in the vise without damaging it. On my GP1200 carbs, I was able to clamp against a built in washer head on the screw. I only caused a little minor washer distortion which isn't gonna cause any problem or interferance. Level the screw, line up the drill bit(1/16" in my case) and secure down the press table and vise so it won't move. (sorry no pics.) And while the screws are still in the vise, (or a workbench vise if you need more room to access things.), hammer in the roll pins with a hammer.

I did that to all 6 low and high speed screws and here's what they look like:

This is an old mod from back in the day, great post for the old school carbs. I have seen people epoxy them in the screwdriver slot as well, pretty messy looking mod but it works. Are those stainless Steel roll pins?

The GPR Guys would have been in heaven if this mod was possible on the I Body Carbs. Beats the hell out of what Jetworks and Riva charged for the aftermarket T-handles.

No they aren't and I was thinking about that while I was doing this. I wanted stainless steel, but these were free from my work, so I figured I'd use them and paint them before I finally install the carbs back in the ski.
