Someone told me something about the TB mount not needing to be changed because the intake mani is plastic now or something. What's the story with this? Have I heard incorrectly???

Found my own answer. It would appear as though the 2018 model doesn't have the rubber TB dampener.

So i have a 2016 svho I purchased in 2017 as a demo model. I have a stalling concern when first starting up. When I slide off of the dry dock I have to bump the throttle to keep from hitting the dock behind me. I can produce it on command and will stall everytime. When I bump the throttle it will stall. When I hold the throtttle steady it will not stall.

I purchased the ski with 20hrs on it and it now has 80hrs and I am starting to notice a decrease in power. When dropping to idle the engine rpms drop real low and rumbles for a second or two before returning to normal also happens when shifting from F N R. Ski has never stalled while underway Only when you bump the throttle after startup.

Has new plugs and all clamps are tight and new oil. I think I will check the throttle plate holder as that item seems it would get worse over time. I have YES and if that is the case I will have yamaha fix it before upgrading. Unless I feel like doing it my self.

I replaced the OEM (rubber sandwich with threaded studs) dampener mount with the red aftermarket throttle body mount.

The complete upgraded assembly looked like this.

Apparently Riva now sells it in black.

Deans team, Riva, Worx, Aquasport, all make this part.

But seems the HO 1.8 has an aluminum version too. 6CR-14163-00-00 seems it was updated at some point.

So does this part being all aluminum, work on the SVHO as far as fitting? seems they can be found use for cheap. just curious.

The SVHO engines prior to 2018 have an aluminum intake manifold. This intake manifold comes with an OEM throttle body dampener to which the throttle body mounts.

The billet throttle body mount described in this thread replaces the OEM rubber sandwich dampener mount.

SVHO engines with a plastic intake manifold do not have a dampener. The throttle body mounts directly to the plastic manifold.

Are you asking if 6CR-14163-00-00 can be used as a throttle body mount instead of the aftermarket billet mount on pre-2018 SVHO engines?

Yes I am asking if the factory 6CR-14163-00-00 from the sideways mounted TB, on the HO skis can be used on the SVHO to replace the rubber one. as a cheaper alternative to the nice billet ones. if one happens to have one. If I had a reason to pull intake I would just try it.

but figured I would ask as it looks the same.

GH store price is $85 before any discounts.

Online OEM parts source is asking $74 for the Yamaha part number.

Unless you have a spare HO mount laying around, the 'list prices' for these parts are not that far apart.

And we know the aftermarket kit fits and works. I have them installed on two 2017 GP1800 SVHO and posted how-to photos. Came with gasket and bolts.

I have literally no issue with any of the aftermarket brands, I am sure they work, great. and to be honest if I need one I am not one to sweat the 20-30 dollar difference in the price.

But my question was not in relation to that, or which one is better. But wanted to bring the topic up in the main thread, and ask IF it is indeed a factory part that does the same thing/ and would fit. Cheaper alternatives are not a bad thing to talk about. Just curious if this does in fact bolt right up and solves the issue. Maybe someone else down the line searches and reads and find out it does work, they are on ebay cheap or who knows where else. but I do not know if they do directly fit.

IT does seem the factory one uses a gasket, vs a glove/o ring to seal to the TB. which personally is a better design. but just curious.
