Thanks Woody, I will check this out. Maybe a stupid question, but do I need to replace or will the ski work without it?

      Fuel flapper replacement

I removed the fuel flapper and it was not only warped the screw was still holding one side on but the other side was pryed out. I tried to push it back in and it would stay but seemed like it wanted to pop out again. The black fuel hose seems slightly too long. Any suggestions?
Also, I went to Greater Yamaha our local dealer and they could not even find the flapper/filter for me so I am back asking for help. My set up looks just like the pictures here in the threads.

Welcome to GH. Follow the instructions.Remove the door completely.Make sure the fuel lines are attatched good. They are usually tight as heck,at least the ones ive dealt with are.

I was told that the flapper is not needed, is that true? I have tried to locate one and Yamaha wants me to buy the entire 'sender fuel' tube for $270.00. What do you think? If I read this right, I dont need the flapper or the screen part that it is attached to?

Personally I sucked too much air and had bogging issues without the flapper. The only good fuel solution that I found was the fuel clunk. I DO NOT recommend running without the flapper unless you do the fuel clunk.

Remove the flapper and the screen lengthen the pick up tubes and no more issues. I never run a ski with the flapper door and screen left in. I always eliminate the fuel selector valve and run dual feeds to my carbs always. This is one of the first mods I do to carbed skis.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but do you lengthen the pick up tubes and just leave them open on the end? Also, I assume they stick out of the sending unit at the bottom of the tank, therefore how much longer?

I lengthen The main and tube leave the reserve where it is. some people put 90's on and run line toward the back of the tank and add fuel clunks the end.

What if I have the primer hooked up to the reserve line. I should probably lengthen the reserve line and leave the main where it is??

Also, where do you buy that kind of fuel hose, tractor supply?

                      screen and flapper

anyone ever have the screen and flapper comeoff before the sending unit was out of the tank ? any good way to get it out that piece of plastic ? what are the odds of it being sucked up against the reserve line ?

The primer must be off the return line and after the restricter jet (if used)!!!!!!

I match the length of the reserve tube, I see Keith posted pics of a clunk.
