    Coupler clearances

I have replaced the shaft, coupler and impellor etc on my XA1200Y. But spent a massive amount of time trying to line up the engine. Did the loose bolt and run the starter bit and finally got it in line but the clearance between the couplers is now about 0.5mm not the 2-4mm specified. The engine is as far forward as it will go so I cannot lengthen the gap. Can I run with this almost zero clearance? What are my options? I don't see any way to increase the gap.

Any help or advice much appreciated.

running with zero clearence will eat the couplers...

I had a GPR once that the driveshaft came loose in the pump stator, and pushed the intermediate shaft forward... the intermediate shaft is just pressed into the housing, so maybe it moved forward somehow? maybe it can be moved rearward?

Just wanted to say I used this method and it has been money so far for over 20 hrs. I didn't have to adjust the motor one bit, it was perfect. Thanks WFO!
