This saves having to buy the later model longer trim and steering cables.

One way to save a few dollars is look for an 02-08 intermediate shaft assembly used.

Awesome, that is exactly what I was getting ready to do this morning. So basically it's in the ballpark of $500. Not thrilling, but definitely not bad. Thank again, I'm definitely going to go this route now.

As for going with the upgraded pump, is my best bet like Ebay or the classifieds on here as far as acquiring the 05 pump?

I found some great deals on the 05 and up pump here, but I always keep my eyes on ebay you never know what will turn up. As far as upgrading the only pieces you need to buy are the housing, end cap and seals. If your bearings are good, you can press your shaft/bearing assembly out, and press it in the new housing.

worth it to do the ho pump and the 2" extension on an xlt? but with a 4 stroke conversion. would asume would use everything from the fxho. already have the mid bearing and intermediate shaft. but would use the ho driveshaft, transom plate, pump extension, wear ring, stator section. but then the gpr 5 degree nozzle drilled and tapped for the xlt reverse bucket. what exit nozzle, trying to stay away from plastic? and asuming ho cables or cable extensions.
