  • Bow Eye Replacement

    My lower boweye bolt broke in the insert.
    The replacement went so smoothly I'll post the process.

    This went smoothly because Mike (Addicted) did all the work!!!
    -thank you for all the help today.

      Step 1

      Center the hole saw on the inner hull 3.4ÔÇØ above the step.
      -don't go deep. Just clear the SMC.
      -save the blank. {be07}

        Step 2

        Use the 3ÔÇØ pipe to bore a hole through the foam.
        Heat just the last 2ÔÇØ the end of the pipe with a torch. This will act as the blade.
        Press and twist the pipe into the center of the hole until it bottoms out on the hull.
        -bore straight forward to the bow.
        -after boring ~8ÔÇØ remove the core and reheat the pipe. {be01}

          Step 3

          Locate and clean the top nut.
          Using the 2ÔÇØ pipe as above, bore a hole downward at ~10* angle to reveal the lower nut.
          Remove the inserts.
          -the oem loctite is impressive!
          -I can not find a torque spec for the inserts/nuts??? {be02}

            Finish

            The blank can now be glassed into place using the step in the foam as a support.
