forgot to mention use a high quality synthetic grease on the threads of the spark plugs to keep them from sticking in the cylinder head. might be only a problem down here in the salt water. but its a common problem i come across working on them every day.

Where did you get that information? Can you provide resources showing this supercharger/turbocharger damage from fogging oil?

This was originally made for the yamaha vx (sport, deluxe, cruiser) and the fx HO, and would apply also to the new VXS-VXR all non supercharged. While most of the info would apply to the FZR\S and SH0, just note there is no info specific to superchargers mainteance.

Per the SHO service manual (pg. 3-23) you fog the engine by spraying a rust inhibitor into the breather hose at the breather assembly side (side further away from the air intake) for about 5 sec while the engine is running. I did this last year and had no problems. Just thought this would help clarify that fogging through the supercharger will not cause it to blow apart if done per yamaha's instructions.

                        Excellent tips...

What is the recommended intervals in break in oil vs regular oil & filter changes?
                        Thanks Bro!

10 hr change initially, then every 30-100 hrs, i suggest 30-35, yamaha says 100 of every year. im over protective..lol

Time to revive this thread since the unfortunate season is coming in Canada not yet but soon...I have a 2012 VXR can I just spray fogging oil into the plugs or should I be doing it as mentioned here? I just want to be clear as to how it should be done in the past with my old 2 stroke xlt 1200 I just did it through the plug holes.

                            Thanks

Also, in addition to where, what fogging oil is the best? Should we be using the Yamaha Stor-Rite Engine Fogging Oil or is there a better product.
