Correctish, the waveater kits also include a linkage upgrade that eliminates the slack in the shaft linkage system. So you would be lacking that added benefit. But the main issue of retainers would be corrected with the updated design.

I ordered 2 new power valve kits with the upgraded retainer design. I've read about the Wave Eater clips. Those are only needed if you are adding them to your stock power valves to prevent the failure, correct? No sense in adding them to newly installed valves w/ updated design?
