I would not use either of those if it where me.... that area will flex and couse both of those products to crack (I would think) i would use something with a cloth and resin (good old fiberglass) I think there is a specific resin that is recomended to use on our skis...

I am not a pro so i would ask someone that has more experince than me!

You have to use West epoxy systems to do the body work
The home of WEST SYSTEM marine-grade epoxy resins and hardeners for boat building, boat repair, home repair, and restoration.

If the hull is SMC, it has to be painted with urethane based paint (single, two or three stage), (base-clear or polyurethane)

If the hull is gelcoated it must be blended with gelcoat or paint the entire surface with polyurethane.
Preparation is everything to attain professional results.
I don't think that area should be flexible, but you can add a flex additive to the base and clear and it would'nt hurt anything

        You Sure...?????

        Hey David....

I wouldn't bet against that damage being inside the hull also...!!!

It looks pretty banged up there...

Have you pulled the foam out from under the trim mechanism and around the fuel tank..???
To give it a real good inspection..????

It definitely looks (from the image) that it needs surgery.??

He He He.... give Harry glassman a call...

Anyway i'm not so sure the front of the ski is double skinned..!!!

I thought it was only the botttom side..!!??? (more than likely this'll be wrong through.?)

The thing is if you only slap some filler in there..?
The first time you bump into a boatdock or an other ski it'll crack again..!!!
(why is it when your sitting about in the water. people come along then bump into your ski.. WTF..??)

If you reach your hand under the rub rail, where the damage is its just single layer overhanging the structure part. I will know more when I tackle it, but until it gets too cold to ride, I will continue tinkering and tuning

It needs to be properly repaired to keep from easily happening again. Are these gprs just painted over smc?

            ???????

            David..

That's where the top and bottom halves of the hull are stuck together(behind the rub rail)

You really need to get in about it from under the hood...!!

Hell stick a flashlight in there and see if there's light coming through for starters..??

Either way if it were mine, i'd try to make it as strong as possible again..!

It definitely needs to be reinforced from the inside.

When it gets light in an hour I will pull out the foam and bucket and look inside to see exactly what is damaged.

Give Tommy Jordan a call he would be the proffesional.

Epoxy resin, SMC compatible fillers and paint is the only thing that should go on that material.

I am heading to Tommy's on sunday anyway to head to a dragrace. I will talk to him then. He is resident guru for sure on hulls.

Quadzilla.... I got lucky and its all on the rubrail area. I looked in and under and nothing on the hull is damaged or could even have a chance at leaking.
Where the red line is in the photo, is where the hulls are joined and it extends out to the overhang/splashgaurd/rubrail mount. You can run your finger under your ski and see what I am referring to.

                            ????????????

                            Hey David..

I've got to say from the one picture you've posted up...
                            The damage looks quite bad..???

What i'm thinking is... If that part of the hull is double skinned then....
It definately looks like you're gonna have an inner hull full of water..??

Maybe the picture is decieving but they sure look like cracks on the front..???

Tommy Jordon will know what to do with it for sure..!!

You have to grind off most of the cracked material and apply 2-3 layers of glass mat from the inside first, then work on the outside.
After the body is shaped, I would apply an epoxy sealer to the surface inside and outside. Then on the outside, you can spray the single or two stage urethane.
This preparation is critical to attain professional results
You can do it yourself but I would not recommend that you do the repairs unless you have the right equipment. Knowledge is a + and you can't get crazy applying the firberglass. You can unbalance the hull and affect its integrity.
If you decide to do it yourself, let me know.
I help you in what I can.
