This thread will serve to show you guys what mod's i'm doing on my FZR and to show any measured gains both in top speed and acceleration.
In bone stock condition my FZR was able to run 68.5 mph top speed and pull off the following acceleration times
Average times out of 6 runs
0-30 1.90 seconds
0-40 2.61 seconds
0-50 3.59 seconds
0-60 5.26 seconds

The first two mod's i installed were the Riva Power Filter kit and also the intake manifold upgrade.
The intake manifold upgrade replaces the restrictive factory flame arrestor with a billet piece. It's a pain in the ass to install but after seeing how restrictive the flame arrestor ribbon is this is a must do mod. You are not going to make big power with the ribbon in place.

The instructions don't call to remove the intake manifold from the ski but i choose to remove mine so that i could do some drilling and tapping.
On each end of the manifold are two bosses that a wire "tie off" connects to. These bosses are ideal to drill and tap for 1/8 NPT threads. I drilled the one in the front to accept a boost gauge sending unit and drilled the one in the back for future use. Perhaps for a blow off valve for a turbo
For now i just installed a 1/8 NPT allen head plug to block it off.
I don't have the boost gauge installed yet but that's coming soon.
Here's some pics of how i did it.
Drill it with a 23/64 drill bit

Use a 1/8 NPT tap

Digital boost gauge sending unit installed

Drilled and tapped and plugged off the rear boss for future use

Next up was the Riva Power Filter install. Very easy install and looks factory and clean once done.

Check out the picture showing the size of the Riva Power Filter tube next to the stock air box opening. Between the stock flame arrestor ribbon and the stock airbox i can't believe the engine ran as well as it did. Both are huge restrictions.

Of course i can't forget to show off my greenhulk.net billet gas cap.
Rumor has it that this mod alone is good for 1 mph

I wanted to go for the sleek look so i removed the "mouse ear" mirrors and installed the RIVA mirror blockoff kit
So today we set out to measure the gains of the Riva Power Filter and Intake Manifold Upgrade Kit.
The gains were immediately noticeable upon taking off with the ski. Much crisper throttle response and better acceleration. The ski is definitely under propped now as i could feel it bouncing back down off the limiter at top RPM.
We started with a full tank of gas and also had the trim set in the neutral position just as we had when we recorded the stock acceleration times.
Here are the average acceleration times with the mods.
0-30 1.77 seconds (.13 improvement)
0-40 2.41 seconds (.20 improvement)
0-50 3.22 seconds (.37 improvement)
0-60 4.58 seconds (.68 improvement)

Top speed today was 69.7 mph bouncing off the limiter which is a 1.2 mph improvement.

Next I installed the Riva free flow exhaust. Talk about clean up the rear of the hull. The stock exhaust components i removed were huge!

After installing the exhaust i used the radar to measure gains over just the Power Filter and Intake Manifold Upgrade.

These are the average acceleration times showing the improvement
0-30 1.63 seconds (.14 improvement over Power Filter and manifold upgrade kit)
0-40 2.24 seconds (.17 improvement over Power Filter and manifold upgrade kit)
0-50 3.06 seconds (.16 improvement over Power Filter and manifold upgrade kit)
0-60 4.32 seconds (.26 improvement over Power Filter and manifold upgrade kit)

This graph shows a stock run VS a run with only the Riva Power Filter and Intake Manifold Upgrade VS a run with the addition of the free flow exhaust.
The following figures show how much the ski has improved over stock with only the three modifications listed above.
0-30 .27 improvement over stock
0-40 .37 improvement over stock
0-50 .53 improvement over stock
0-60 .94 improvement over stock
The ski has also gone from a stock top speed of 68.5 to 70.4 with the modifications.
If you look at the graph showing the run with all the mods you will see it get's wavy near the end. This is because the ski is all over the rev limiter and getting kicked back. With a higher pitch impeller we can expect that acceleration and top speed times will improve

One thing i do recommend you guys do it remove the side cowlings to remove the foam pieces that obstruct the hull ventilation openings

I took things a step further and now my "fake" air intake vents are actually functional. Remember though, I'm a flat water rider and Wouldn't recommend this to an ocean rider.
Once you remove the cowlings you will need to separate the chrome piece from the black backing. It will be necessary to drill out a couple of rivets. I made clean cuts and then polished the edge of my cuts with a dremel. You can't even tell the plastic was cut once the chrome bezel is riveted back on.

I drilled holes in the cowling to allow air to reach the vent ducts. I sprayed it down real quick with some black paint that way if you did peep in behind the chrome intake openings you Wouldn't see blue.

The end result looks clean and nobody would even notice that it didn't come from the factory this way.

Just installed my boost gauge. I got the square digital gauge from dynotune.

I also installed my PET 2100 Tachometer
Correct setting for our skis is P:41

I had the local upholstery shop staple on my new Riva seat cover

I just added a few more modifications. I installed the R&D C3 monster wheel supercharger upgrade, R&D Powershot Engine Tuner and R&D Pro Pitch 13/25 impeller. The water was too choppy to get any acceleration numbers so i will get that information soon. The difference in acceleration was BIG and i also gained some top speed. Best number to date is 74.4 mph.

The Powershot module works exactly as advertised. It bypasses the boost limiter to allow 10 psi of boost. You can't run the C3 supercharger upgrade without it.
