  • GP1200R vs SUV 1200.

There are two jet skis for sale for about the same money, one is a 2001 gpr1200 and the other is a 2001 suv 1200. Any suggestions or comments?

It all depends on what you want, the GPR is for 2 people and its faster than the SUV and The SUV is more for Family riding with 3 people

So the gp is faster? Is that just because of the weight? How is the ride differ?

GPR will bounce around way more in waves than the SUV, but will be faster/have better handling.

I'm not sure what else you're looking for, as the skis are as comparable as a supercharged Lotus Elise and a V6 Dodge Charger 4 dr.

The real questioon you need to ask yourself is what do i want to do with the ski. Dart around and spin and jump waves? Cruise around with friends and pull tubes?
UNISHIPPERS is the source to ship motors, skis, etc. Call I can probably set you in the right direction.

SUV , they are way to big and hard to find a double trailer to haul two skis.
                  not for me.

Is there such a thing as having it both? I live on a lake and there arent too many waves unless a boat is going around. And I normally ride alone.

A little off subject but we just had a earthquake in NH. I wonder if I have to worry about any tsunami on my lake, lol.

SUV motor, 65U, does not have powervalves so it's a little simpler to rebuild. Change the rideplate, intake grate & prop and you should be able to hit 52-55 mph. GPR has tons of upgrades available. You can get it up to 60, 70, 80 mph depending on how much you want to spend. SUV is for cruising. GPR for tearing it up. Have a hard time finding a lift/dock for the SUV if you live on the water.
When you tire of them, the GPR will be the easier sale.

Something else... A 1200XLT is a good compromise between the two. A three seater that does 56-57 out of the box, and can be modded to do over 60 with ease, and over 70 with dedication.
