  • Fastest 2 stroke ski

    Good Afternoon
What is the fastest 2 stroke jet ski (top end and acceleration) that has lots of potential for modification and readily available parts. Any brand. Also not very expensive
    Thanks

Yamaha gp1200 or Kawasaki ultra 150. Also some of the Polaris's were pretty fast, not that familiar with them.
If I was to get one I would get the Yamaha. Member 97GPSLEEPER has one that will do 70mph.
2017 RXPX - add on wheelie bars
2013 RXTX - custom muffler bearing

2003 GPRXP - hybrid, runs on 93 octane or sweet tea

I've never ridden the GP1200, but I've got about 200 hours on my Ultra 150. I love the Ultra 150 with the trim mod. It is very light and nimble and jumps with ease. Some people complained about how it handled in chop, but I got accustomed to it and it doesn't bother me at all. My Ultra 310 will out-accelerate it, but is only 1-2 MPH faster on the top end.

The Kawasakis are generally much easier to work on than the Yamahas, and the 150 is no exception. You can typically get the engine out in about an hour. The biggest problems with the 150 are corrosion and parts availability. As with most 2-strokes, parts are becoming scarce. The Ultra 150 has very few parts in common with the other Kawasakis, except the Ultra 130 and the STX-R. There is a 4-stroke powered Ultra 150 in the Conversion forum on this site. I'm planning to convert one, and perhaps both of my 150s to 4-stroke.

If your talking BONE STOCK.....then I'd agree, the GP1200r or the Ultra150, and a lot of people forget about the Seadoo RXX.(which really isn't stock). If you're talking CAN be really fast, there are several options with plenty of go-fast parts still around. BOTH the Seadoo XP(spx) with 787 AND the GSX with 951 can be really quick. The Yamaha GP1200 (97-99) are also really quick.....holeshot is crazy on those. I 'tuned' one that my wife rode for several years that would consistently GPS 63mph with ALL STOCK PARTS! Also if you've got the balls, the Waveraider 1100 can deasily get into the mid 60's as well. Then there's the Polaris Pro1200 and the Tigershark TSR 1000/1100 skis that are more OUT of the norm but are also really fast in stock form. Go-fast goodies and aftermarket support for those is about ZERO!

Wild thing is right. I guess the reason I tend to forget about the GPR's is that mine has a Seadoo motor in it.
GPR's can still be found in good shape and parts are still fairly available.
