Ok guys, multiple passes today. With the SS grate installed as it was before with no shims, no buck at all. Problem solved
Shimmed SS grate down .030 in the rear and it seemed to like it better, .4 faster and still no hint of a buck. This is where it was happiest. Perfect bounce and buck free passes.
Shimmed the SS grate down another .030, for .060 total and it hated it and went into a radical buck at only 79.
Pump pressures at 81 were at 50-52 psi, and did not change regardless of grate being shimmed or not.
The springs on the valves are very light and i was concerned of them opening too soon, so i initially changed the springs with those out of a standard jetworks valve, which happen to be identical in length, and shape, only heavier and stronger spring pressure.
It didnt matter which springs were in the valves, even with the original light springs in them pressures and performance were the same.
There did not seem to be any speed gain, only the elimination of my buck problem.
The valves seal well at low speed and there was no difference in lo speed hookup.
These valves could seal even better than a jetworks valve also as they have a rubber o ring on the sealing face of the valve, creating a vaccum tight seal.
They are very easy to clean also if there is are any weeds or debris that gets in them, very easy to see the valve itself.

His issue was not to gain speed, but to get rid of his buck which he seems to have solved for his ski.
How much did that total for parts cost you Ross?

shit, that is almost what it cost for two jetworks valves. Good find. ha, I read this entire thing once, didn't feel like going back to look, hahahaha.
I hear your ski is moving. I am hoping to be down that way again this year, we'll have to line them up again like we did last time.

I couldn't get the metal hot enough to use the aluminum filler, but it worked out pretty good using epoxy. One more to do.
