  • Squish

    Femando I need help.

Over winter will be putting together (again) my GP1200 with triple pipes. msd, 150psi, ported cylinders 85.5 mm proX pistons,Solas or Skat 14/20 prop,46mm mikunis.Pro tec intake manifold,Beach house sponsons.also have pto tec ride plate and intake grate.

Rebuilding engine and installing ported cylinders.

I have a new crank it is not welded I have told you can not run a triple pipe boat without welding is this true.

Some questions I have are what should my squish be and what size domes should I run.

I was running pro tec 42cc domes would have to find notes to see squish I think it was to large but that is history we are starting from scratch.

I am working on this project in my appartment (go figure).
I want on fast GP and I know you can help.

82 with a 1200 grate at see level in the summer would be fiine.

This year with skat prop the rpm were under 7,000 rpm at 62mph if I remember right.

I had issues with trim and prop for sure.

Toasted that engine and starting over.

Rebuilding 97 GP1200 to stock almost.(Prop and higher compresion).
    Rebuilding 99 GP1200 ported triple piper.(over 70 is goal 74 would be a dream).

Fernando I would like to talk to you about this build I have some RXP buddies I want to impress. Also a 70mph XP limited that smoked me.

I will not give up till I reach my goal which is only to outrun a RXP.

    Thanks SCOTT..............

well had 41cc domes on my 97 triple 162 compression was running pump gas but after 150psi you should use at least 50/50 race fuel 93 octane. Now squish I just forgot I know squish on my 2000 triple is at 40 thousands. And yes you must get crank welded or you will twist crank. My boat before selling it was running 71.4 and that was with a J prop pitch to 11/18 from carl. I think alot more info has come up on making skis faster and I think that could have been the case for my 97 but 71.4 for that boat is really getting close to the limit IMO

            Thank's GPRPITMAN

Will be afraid to run under 100 octane maybee when I get EGT's
            Still looking for proper squish.
I have a pro tec head and a pro design head botha are domed but I think if I have a stock head cut it would seal better.
Can always throw anotherhead on later and try different size domes when I get EGT's.

SQUISH FOR A GP With pipes and ported = ?

Hit up dav_dman on the Riva board. He was just through the head/squish deal before he sold Thumper.

Lowell did the head up for him. I think the squish was around .045.

I personally dislike heads with replaceable domes. I would have the stock head machined.

You need to get that crank welded, when properly tuned it will be spinning at close to 8000.

That sidedraft manifold isn't the best either. (IMHO)

I don't think you will ever truly be able to run pump gas with triple pipes.
