I never put an actual "thread locker" on any bolt under the water line (Pump shoe, ride plate, trim tabs, intake grate, sponsons, pump, ext hsg, ect) . I use Loctite white paste thread sealant (592/572/567) or you could use anti-seize.

The little M6 bolts torque to a whole 6-8 ft lbs, while the M8s can be torqued to 22-24 ft lbs

I use the blue thread locker on all that stuff, better safe than sorry imo. I had bolts come loose on my previous GPR.

Ah, but couldnt putting loctite on your grate bolts potentially cause your brass inserts to spin the next time you went to take it out?

Blue loctite should be fine, that's what it's made for...the alternative is having the bolts loosen up, which makes the grate all the more likely to rip out of the mounting.

Furthermore, I installed a 1200 grate and the 800 grate will never return, they're worthless.
