  • help needed on a 2009 fx sho revs and speed

hi guys i posted a on here a while ago about my fx sho top speed and mods but now its changed

i have a r&d grate modded exhaust and a pump seal kit i also have a 13/22 impeller im only hitting 63to 64 mph at 7000rpm? can someone tell me if this is correct and can someone help me and tell me what i need to do to be hitting better speeds?

do i need to do ribbon delete mod? and also thease speeds were on a lake not sea many thanks guys

RPM should be better, that would bring the speed up. Is the lake at a significant altitude above sea level? Also, check for loose or broken clamps on rubber ducting from supercharger to intercooler, and j pipe from intercooler to manifold.

I run on a lake at 3000' AMSL, not heat stoked and stock I would get 7350-7400 rpm before ribbon delete, 7250 when really hot, 7550-7600/rev limiter now I've done ribbon delete. Tightening clamps has drastically reduced heat under seat and rpm fade, but they still loosened up a little again after a few more hours... ** Heavy Sigh **

        Hello Darren,

You definitely need to get more air into the motor. If you are concerned about water intrusion you can still use the OEM air intake, but I would recommend removing the ribbon in the throttle body ASAP. You will notice a difference for sure. Adding an air intake as well will help with the RPM's your engine will turn. I have a 2009 SHO; with an air intake, ribbon deleted, the R&D intercooler spacer kit, the same intake grate/seal kit/impeller you have, and a stock rideplate modified by Jim, I see around 71-72 mph at 7680 RPM.

The impeller is too tall without some added power; that power will come from adding cool air to the engine. The rideplate will give you a couple of MPH as well, and the ski will track better, too. Contact Jim through the forum to get his modification - it's hands down the best $ you'll spend on the SHO you have.

Do the air intake/ribbon delete/rideplate, and you'll see the SHO come alive. I think you'll be much happier, and if that speed works for you, it's a very reliable, safe setup.

        Good luck!

there are a few things you can do for little or no money, remove the ribbon its a bit fiddly but not a hard job if you can get at the jubilee clips that hold it to the manifold, unbolt the manifold to do it, remove the foam inserts from the front and change the air filter. this will massively increase your air flow and help you. do the exhaust mod to fit the free flow to free up you r gas air in needs to get out as well. you will easy hit at least 70 then. poss up to 73 with the right pitch.a boost clamp will remove your limiter of 6 psi also. all very cheap mods.

you should be 7500 to 7700 rpm your impeller is to steep it needs to be depitch to bring the rpm up.
