  • New part number for timing chain in 2016!!

I was reluctant to start yet, another timing chain thread, but this one is different....

I was looking into something and came across a site that had some 2016 models listed. For the hell of it I looked up a 2016 Yamaha FX SVHO (FC1800R) Parts and low and behold the timing chain number is different than the 2015 and older along with a few other parts!!

Here is a comparison of the parts that I found were different.

    2016
    3 Sprocket, Cam Chain
    6ET-12176-00-00
    2015
    3 Sprocket, Cam Chain
    6D3-12176-10-00

    2016
    14 Chain
    94591-74152-00
    2015
    14 Chain
    94591-66152-00

    2016
    15 Damper, Chain 2
    6ET-12252-00-
    2015
    15 Damper, Chain 2
    6BH-12252-00-00

    2016
    24 Damper, Chain 1
    6ET-12251-00-00
    2015
    24 Damper, Chain 1
    6BH-12251-00-00

    2016
    Crankshaft

    6ET-11411-00-00

    2015
    Crankshaft
    6S5-11411-00-00

Anyone have the skinny on this? Someone has to.

Sprockets the same number or is that a typo?

Sorry, I fixed it. I had issues with the format. It is different.

Yeah, I am sure if it is a fix, a recall will cost too much. Maybe they are hoping folks will be out of warranty if it happens so they will be off the hook.

Seems like a fairly straightforward retrofit if it all swaps. Can you buy the parts yet? Whos gonna try it first!?

Good news ... Seems like the chain and the cam gears are going to be different !!! Let's hope for the best but indeed Yamaha will not admit there was an issue !

Google it. First search I tried after seeing this thread found it. But I do agree, seems early to be online!

No, not at all. I googled it to see if I could find any other 2016 info, definitely not questioning your info at all. Sorry if it came across that way.
I found the 2016 list when I searched

It seems like only the 2nd and 3rd digit are changing on most of them. I wonder if it could just be a change to a different manufacturer.
