  • ( 4 broken ) solas impeller tools

hey guys, I've broken 4 solas impeller tools already trying to get a solas concord of the shaft, I've tried everything, from 6 foot breaker bars to lots of heat till I cooked the pump seals oops.. I also made one of those fancy tools that use a bottle jack and still no luck, the 4 little feet on the tool just break off clean.

I heard rumor of a stainless steel impeller tool, does anyone know who makes it or how can I possibly get this prop off without cutting it off with a torch?

    thanks.

      jorge.....
I really don't like two thinks on yamaha platform
the clutch (too weak on a modded engine)
      and the impeller....
everytime I want to change an impeller I get crazy
I pull off the shaft from pump and take it to an mechanical shop
where my friend try with everything he has in the shop...
sometimes he cut in half my stucked impeller....
anyway if someone have a stronger solas tool I'm interestet on buying one or two...
maybe Jerry can do it for the store...
I think he will sell many...

My mate has been doing the same ... broke 3 tools and has cut props off .... it would be cheaper to leave the prop on the shaft and remove shaft from stator ... you just need some spare shafts ... not a solution but a option

Press the shaft out. Make a tool to grab the prop from the back. There are some ribs inside the hub where you can grab it from

The R &D dual washer is a must with a aftermarket prop....the prop tool are too weak....that's why they break off.

I have thought about a harder tool also but you would probably break the snout straight off the front of the impeller because of the material not being the greatest. From everything I have seen once you are making enough power they basically become married to the shaft. You can get them off without cutting though.Heat from the back and twisting them off by the hub but you will leave the hub twisted and they will look like shit

The R&D “Dual Washer” Impeller Spacer Kit for Yamaha replaces the O.E.M. single seal washer with a specifically designed and machined kit that incorporates a second low friction slip washer to be used which allows impellers to be removed with 50 percent less torque during the impellor removal process! Tired of Impellers that are so galled up that impellers have to be machined or cut off? Tired of broken impeller tools and broken vises? Install the R&D low friction “Dual Washer” Kit and impeller removal will be super easy when making impeller changes. Many SVHO owners have had these issues and have had to cut up and throw away impellers and repair damaged threads. The R&D Kit puts to end all the expensive repairs and downtime with these issues. The R&D “Dual Washer” Kit fits all Yamaha models both supercharged and N.A. from 2008 and up!
