  • Who leaves o2 sensors in all the time

Looking into getting an afr guage finally, only concern is, I keep reading that you aren't supposed to leave it in for everyday riding. Just for tuning purposes. And if you do ride with it in all the time, the water possibly shortening the life of the sensor. Also, any reason the R&D adapter wouldn't work as well as the riva. I see everyone running the riva. The r&d seems a lot simpler to install. Thanks guys.

well i can tell you i installed the riva bung. my sensor lasted maybe 5hrs. got another one and also got the innovative bung heatsink adapter so it moves the sensor up and gives it protection. well my second sensor lasted no longer than the first. you obviously cant keep the sensor in place. thats the last one i will leave in.

Dang very discouraging about dropping 400$ for a setup. I get the afr is critical but man I hate not utilizing parts more.

yeah i hear that. once the tuning is done its not like you really use it for anything but i hate having an error code displayed. makes me feel like something is broken.

Are y'all using the riva setup? For the svhos that are mounted between WB and exhaust manifold?

I've had some that last, some that don't, the most recent one doesn't seem to die. Still calibrates well. I'll swap it for a new one if I do a major change and need to to tuning. Then swap back to old one.

I run the Riva 02 adapter and have had my sensor installed for over a year on my FZR and have 35 hours on my GP so far and the 02 sensors are holding up fine. I've never removed them. If you are toasting 02 sensors so quickly then gasket 7 on this page is likely leaking causing you to get water in the exhaust

Leave mine in at all times. Doesn't even feel right to ride my ski without seeing afr. It's either a bad gasket, bad tune or modified exhaust allowing water to flow back up fouling the o2 or a combination of those.

I only take mine out between rides while it's in the garage. Otherwise it stays in every ride. AFR's change way too much with the weather to not run the gauge while riding.

I have a AEM failsafe AF/boost gauge. Just burned one tank of 93 with Turbo 108 octane boost since modding ski and putting O2.

Is there a difference with design (one being better than the other) with the riva or r&d? I have a thru hull exhaust. Stock water box. Concerns with that?
