  • waterproof cover suggestions, gunnels fill with water

I have a 2012 fx sho cruiser that stays outside on a lift next to the water in the elements. My OEM cover finally is looking ragged and starting to tear. Any suggestions on a cover that is waterproof. I sprayed tent water sealer on it to help but now it is time to replace. Sealer won't help the tears, I hate when the gunnels get water filled from a rain storm. It's a pain to scoop water out by hand, any suggestions to keep water from making my gunnels hold water? Or how you scoop water out... I live in south Houston/ Galveston and due to our latest Hurricane Harvey we had more than our share of water. No water in the house but the street was a river. It is crazy to see the debris in Dickinson Texas. Others were not so lucky... Thanks for your suggestions.

A leaf blower will empty the footwells rather quickly. Just need to be able to aim it along each footwell towards the rear.

When it was young did the OEM cover do a good job of fitting the hull and allowing the rain water to run off?

Another sealed OEM cover would be straightforward option.

To empty the gunnels i use a small transfer hand pump. But the leaf blower idea sounds better

I've yet to find a cover that's truly waterproof. I think water getting into the footwells is just one of those things you have to live with. My solution? Keep a small sponge in one of your storage compartments and use that to soak up the water. Cheap and effective.

Is it possible to change the bunk angles so the ski sits on the bunks with a nose high slope?

You would have to get the front really high for this to work. I wash my ski on my steepest part of the driveway hooked up to the SUV which also raises the front and it still doesn't let all the water drain from the gunwales. A leaf blower works really well though. I know someone who extended the roof of his dock to cover his jet ski ramps and it has helped with the rain and the sun degrading the jet skis. Another person put 2 jet ski ramps inside one of his 2 covered dock bays.

I know the manual says to store watercraft level but,
when my skies have to be outside overnight I raise the trailer tongue up as high is it can go and put a sawhorse under the tongue
have been doing this since 1992.
Just don't fill gas tank to the very top if doing this, because gas can seep into hull about 2 gallons on a GPR !

I use a plastic dog food scoop to get water out of foot wells

Makes it hard to service when full of water

And yeah I use a leaf lower for that purpose also it's a highly underrated service tool for removing water
