  • 2018 svho engine rough idle

Does anybody's 2018 svho engine run rough on idle? I just had my 2015 svho engine replaced with a 2018 engine and on idle only it shakes a lot compared to my 2015 engine. The handlebars shake quite a bit. You can see the engine shaking up and down. This happens if the ski is in the water or out of the water. It runs good from idle to full throttle just the shaking at idle bothers me. The ski is completely stock. Thanks

Timing chain fail on your 2015? Just wondering because I'm looking at a 2015 with low hours but I am nervous about the timing chain issues.

Did all of the engine mounts get torqued during install or are we talking about a tuning issue?

Nope. Oil cooler failed. Dumped all the oil through the left pisser.

I would assume so. It was done at a reliable dealership under warranty. I can see the engine mounts moving with the engine. It's not like the engine is jumping on top of the mounts. It's the original stock ecu.

i had a similar situation with my 2015 FXSVHO but the timing chain failed on mine and after new motor was installed I have noticed this one is rough at idle but goes well otherwise so I just stopped worrying about it.

These 1.8's normally don't rough-idle . . . betting something got over-looked - it happens. Take it back to the dealer. Specifically ask that they get YDS on it and insure the analog temp readings and intake manifold pressure/temp. They can do active drop-out tests on each cyl - perhaps you just have a defective spark plug cutting in & out??

I would take it back but they are a 5 hour drive. Before I make the drive I just thought I'd throw the question out on here first

Have the dealer re check the engine to coupler aleighnment.

Check ur throttle cable to make sure it's tight. my fz is not smooth at idle especially when it's cold, even warmed up it will vibrate the fake air inlets

So you tightened up the throttle cable and the vibration went away?

I was really thinking about the alignment

Yes a little because it brought the idle up

They bent the coupler when they took it off.
