  • 2016 Fx svho will a stock intake grate be safe at 85mph?

I've been out of skis awhile and coming off gp1300r that would buck over 70 with stock intake grate.

I ride on lewis smith lake in Alabama and it will have a lot of debris floating on the surface from time to time. They stock intake grate looks decent for deflecting branches, sticks etc

I plan on flashing ecu and accompanying mods, jims plate and if I were to end up in the 85mph range, would the stock intake grate still be safe or is there a better option? TIA

without that middle bar, you're def going to suck up more debris. the stock grate is a good top loader. i've put mine side by side with riva, and there really isn't any difference except for the middle bar is gone.

p.s. my ski is 81 mph @ 8500 or so.

What mods do you have done?

diy intake, ribbon delete, jim's plate, 2 degree wedge, solas impeller, dean's 8600 tune.

i'm guessing, retainers, intercooler, cooling mods, then can hit 85 mph easily @ higher rpm.

Thanks. You running a 13/20 or 13/18 prop. I'm currently hitting 77. Riva 8300 tune. I'm going to try the 8500 and get the ride plate cut next.

i'm playing around with my impeller right now...oddly enough, the best result has been with a 13/20 tweaked to 15/20...don't ask me why. lol.
