Broke 2 vices. Just tried the breaker bar under the truck tire trick and broke the breaker bar. Wtf?! Can it be heated?

Heat up the impeller. -
I have used heat in the past and it kind of helps. Its hard to heat the threads, most of the heat ends up in the hub. It slowly works it way to threads.
I also built some ugly looking tools last time. They work great.2009 FZR - etech 15.5,Rd water cooled sc housing, 2013 clutch/idler, cp pistons .020 over, Molnar rods, riva valves, Rd super single valve springs, Rd engine cooling kit, riva through hull exhaust, Rd sponsons, grate and plate, 160mm impeller.Comment

3/4" drive breaker bar?
1/2" drive socket is highly stressed, whether the breaker bar fails or breaks the impeller loose can depend on tool quality. I recommend 3/4" drive
Reminder - you are turning the impeller in the correct direction to loosen?

I've done this dozens of times. Never broke a vice in the past.3/4" drive breaker bar?

Jim my 2017 had the threads galled, yamaha did not add any type of thread lubricant on the shaft, I had to get a new shaft. And yes I turned it the correct way.
The newer yamahas do have what looks like a white lithium grease, I have removed several now and wish they done that to my 2017.
Good luck. Be careful heating the impeller too much, you will ruin the pump seals.2017 GP1800 Turbo. Powered by MoteC

96 1100zxi stage 2 1/2 61.2 mph(SOLD)
04 rxp stage 3, et 68-140 87mph. Parted out she treated me well!Comment

I really don't have the proper tools to do this correctly, so I will be making a trip to my buddies shop or the dealership. Funny how it's always what would appear to be the simple things that hold you up.

tuning yamahs skis since 10 years removed and install countless impellers...never broke any tool...
just heat the impeller up takes some time use a torch...very easy to doComment
