2022 FX Models low fuel warning

Anyone else having MASSIVE problems with the low fuel warning beep coming on too early?

Without exaggerating, my low fuel warning will go off with about 40% of the tank left. I have documented this many times on different trips.

My dealer has said that Yamaha set the warning to be even more aggressive with the 2022 FX models than previously (and prior to 2022 it was already too early).

It's seriously killing my rides, feels like I have about half the fuel capacity I should.

I hear some people have adjusted (bent) their float rod to be more accurate, but that seems like a timely iterative process.

Another case of lawyers running the engineering departments. I don't know about Yamaha, but the tank float is pretty easy to pull on a Sea Doo.

Nope, but I heard it was to do with lawyers and people suing PWC manufacturers for getting stranded!?

Thanks for the foam tip. I haven't actually investigated where the speaker is - can you tell me?

If you are goingto try and silence it with foam you may as well just disconnect it

I haven't done this myself, but I had read it was just behind the glove box. Someone placed a piece of hydroturf over it to help reduce the sound. Maybe you can try something similar.

I think it's a worthy add-on instead of disconnecting it completely, as you'd want to just reduce the sound and not have it so ear piercing. The alarm is important to keep otherwise for other alarms that may arise.

Cool, I will do some research to try and pinpoint the location, before I start tearing everything apart.

And I agree, the alarm does serve a purpose (engine temp etc) but doesn't need to be so loud!!!

Does anyone bend the float arm like on the Sea Doo 4tec?

i am sure that it is possible to flash the display to change that. but go by the used fuel, you know how big the tank is so you know when its empty.
i would not disconnect the alarm because in the event of an real problem like overheating etc tec you didnt hear that

I've been going by the fuel used as well, however I often stop and shut off my WaveRunner, which resets all of the values. Since reflashing the system is not available nor feasible for me, even if it was available, I would really like to have another display showing me these values, like fuel used, gph avg, ect. But I'm not aware of a current system that shows that. I don't see Maptuner or Candoo with those capabilities for the WaveRunner. Unless there's a way to connect via NMEA 2000, but it seems like that's not easily done.

I agree, shutting off the alarm completely is not the way. I think the issue with many is that it's too sharp and loud, making it annoying. Perhaps muffling it would be a middle solution.

You can connect with NMEA 2000. I've done it. You just need a piece like the garmin GFL-10 and an NMEA 2000 network set up with your chart plotter I have a 2023 FX on the way and this is one of the first things I will be doing to it

I have a "21 FX SVHO and placed multiple calls to Yamaha. Was given BS story that they are working on a software update and when it's ready I will be notified. Funny my issue started right after the gas tank filler neck recall. They said it is not related but I know I had no issue before this. Someone told me I should have went after them with a lemon law since there is no fix. I went down that rabbit hole with an Audi Q8 and not doing that again, and I won my case, but it really sucks.

Also Yamaha suggested pulling the lanyard and waiting for the screen to go dark then starting again. It will then give an accurate value. The problem is when you hit a wave it starts over again.
