Assuming the tank holds 17 gal. two bars is about 35% left. That doesn't seem too bad and is similar to how my Kawasaki behaved.
The main issue is the incessant buzzer and it continually going off when silenced. I could live with the gauge as it just an indicator

Yeah, a better solution would be, say, five beeps once per minute.

that's still way too frequent imo...i'd say a beep every 2-3 minutes with the ability to mute it while in motion...because that's just a software code change, it should be easy for Yamaha to impliment with a firmware update...I think everyone's issue is the alarm going off with 5+ gallons still left in the tank, imo it should be going off with only 1-2 gallons left, that's likely a mechanical issue with the fuel level mechanism that probably requires hardware updates...

        • An inline switch for the buzzer is our best option here for the time being.

just disconnect it, no cuts to void warranty

The fuel sender has now been well documented. The electrical signal (ohms and dash display bars) at every increment and how much liquid fuel is in the tank at that sender level.

You have installed the previously discussed by you modifications mentioned in this thread?
So the relative “terribleness” isn’t quite directly comparable if so…
I’m still basically stock. I have the Riva power filter, Solas 13/20 and Riva ride plate installed.
                  Stock tune yet.

If I cut into it, what part of the warranty gets voided?

Seems like cutting the sound completely creates more of a safety issue should another issue arise and you're not attentive on watching the screen.

No, what I meant was, you had previously discussed adding a Garmin GFL and some other thing that would then send fuel level to a chartplotter… so, several hundreds of dollars of electronics and whatever wiring splicing to achieve what you are using, plus the knowledge to make it all work. I’m just saying you’re a far cry from us on the factory setup regarding that aspect of it. Lol, not really a comparison…

With it going off (for me) for around 30% of the total fuel tank capacity, I'm only losing that ability to hear a warning on 30% of my rides. I'll take that any day of the week over having to listen to that bloody alarm.

Went about 6 miles like this. I just filled up for the weekend and it only took 12 gallons. Slow fueling and topped off. 12.2 to be precise.
Take the check valve out at the tank. You just pop the fill hose off the tank pull it out and put the hose back. I think that valve is an overfill prevention device. I could get nearly a gallon more in the tank with it gone and no worries about slow filling

I put all of the data in this thread. You can see what every gauge reading on the stock dash corresponds to as gallons remaining. And the fuel used number on the dash is very accurate. I was within .2 liters of what the dash read for fuel used when I filled it up. I had the Garmin parts laying around from another ski so I used them.

For me at least, as long as Yamaha updates the dash somehow so I don’t lose trip data when I shut down the ski I’m ok with the fuel gauge. I must have accidentally left my buzzer unplugged when I was messing around with things because I had no audible alarm. But if you’re paying attention to the gauge you won’t need the alarm.

The extra fuel in the can up front came in handy yesterday. We made a stop after using 5 gallons. I emptied the can into the fuel tank and had no worries for the trip until we hit the fuel dock. Managed to put 125 miles on the ski for the whole trip yesterday. After the last 60 miles of the trip I was back to seeing the yellow on the fuel gauge.

                            • I agree the fuel burn feature is quite accurate and if it was to get an update to fix it, I could live with the fuel level issue. But having both issues concurrently makes determining fuel remaining a challenge (not one that cannot be overcome, just a difficultly). I don’t run a chartplotter and have no desire for one, so my “remedy” is to unplug the alarm, and try to remember to check fuel used prior to shutting off while out, and keep a running tally. And I wasn’t trying to bash the work you’ve put in, it’s impressive and quite a benefit to our community. Lol, for me, electronics need to be in a plug it in and be done configuration 😂

                              • Ok so out on a full tank, burped right to the filler neck and run to the first low fuel warning. A massive 36 litres of fuel to fill it up burped to the neck again. Ski is a monster, good at everything it supposed to do apart from measuring fuel 😂
