Don't get your hopes up. I was just at my dealer yesterday (Yamaha's largest midwest dealer, mind you) to look at the Kawi Ultra line, and they said they've sold multiple 2023's with that exact same problem. My 2022 does the opposite. It reads full for a couple hour of continuous riding, then goes to empty in the blink of an eye, alarm goes off with b/w 40-50% actually remaining. That seems to be what all the 2019-2022's are doing. It's interesting to hear you experienced that same opposite issue on the 2023 that the dealer owner mentioned.

I have no idea what to make of that, and neither does the dealer's owner, who even he cannot seem to get any type of answer (at all) from Yamaha. He has tons of customer complaints on the FX's he has sold over the last few years on this very issue of the fuel gauge/alarm. I would bet money that if Yamaha ever does manage to fix the fuel gauge, it'll be purely a prospective thing, with all prior delivered units swept under the rug. No recall, technical bulletin, or software update for us existing owners.

It's looking like it'll be pretty damn expensive to trade-in my 2022 FX for a Kawi Ultra 310LX...but at least I haven't heard about any fuel gauge accuracy issues on those. If anyone has...please speak up lol.

I have mentioned on here previously regarding my successful lemon law lawsuit against Audi for a Q8 about 2 years ago. I went back to my documents and am currently following a similar path for my 21 FX SVHO. The difference is I am not currently hiring an attorney. I am sending a Demand for Repair letter to them. When I sued Audi this was the necessary first step in the process.
Let me know what you think. I haven't finalized yet and I am purposefully leaving out personal info.

              Dear Yamaha Motors Corp:
I believe that my vehicle is a “lemon” under New York lemon law. I am hereby making a written demand for a [refund/replacement] because the vehicle does not conform to the warranty.
I also purchased an extended warranty for the unit.
I purchased a 2021 FX SVHO on [date] from [name of dealership] in [city, state]. Since buying the vehicle, I have had many phone calls with technical support regarding an issue concerning erroneous fuel reporting of the my unit. My Waverunner constantly shows false fuel levels together with the audible alarm when the Waverunner still has 9-10 gallons still in it. Every phone call I am advised Yamaha is working on a solution to this exact issue with no expected release date is advised. This fault is a dangerous condition that also takes away the joy of owning such a vehicle and is now unacceptable. Living in the New York area my season is very short, and the only advice from Yamaha Corporate is to pull the lanyard to completely have the screen go dark so the computer resets. Herein lies the danger as I am an ocean rider and depending on waves tides and other watercraft around me this is unacceptable. And to make matters worse the suggested fix does not work. As soon as another swell of water hits the alarm is triggered again.
My unit had a fuel filler recall done by Crossbay Motorsports of Bayshore. I have called them a few times regarding this issue and was informed there is no fix at the present time, which confirms what Yamaha Corporation has said.
Please advise as to my demand for repair.
              Sincerely,
              [Your name]

With respect to just the 2023's ... or the recent FX's in general (2019 and later)?

It does seem that there are several 'issues' or concerns regarding the fuel level dash indication and the Low Fuel warning alarm.

Some rider reports of significantly incorrect fuel readings on the dash.
Full tank without full reading on the dash meter.
And/or 'empty' dash reading when the fuel tank still contains a significant portion of the fuel capacity.

The fuel sender unit part number has not changed in years. Across many (all?) models the float for the sender mechanically does not touch the bottom of the tank nor the top. Which means the sender electrically cannot distinguish fuel levels outside the arm swing range (above 5 ohm 'full reading' and below 'Low')

Within the float range of motion the lower float region provides a non-linear ohm signal to the dash. When the fuel level declines below this level the signal to the dash (~95 ohms) effectively becomes 'Low/Empty' and stays like that until the tank really is empty (~130 ohms).

For the Touch Screen FX models it seems that there are at least two versions of the seven inch screen size dash, possibly affecting how the Low Fuel warning works.

                  My understandings;
2019 was the first year for the color touch screen on FX
2022 went to the 7 inch touch screen for FX
2023 has a revised part number for the dash unit

Oh that’s wonderful to hear. I pick up my limited on Saturday. I guess I’ll see what the deal with this is.

While I haven't yet run my ski to the low fuel alarm, I know my ski does read low. With my gauge reading just below half tank (4 bars), I still had 10 gallons left in the tank. I have a 2022 FX HO.

Also, the FX HO's coming with a 5" touch screen while the SVHO's come with the 7" touch screens.

My 22 Limited gauge shows full fine and drops as it should down to half way. When it reaches half way though, it then drops extremely quickly to zero.

How much fuel is actually in the tank when it first reaches the 'half way' reading on the fuel gauge?

How much fuel is in the tank when the gauge reading begins to move down from 'full'?

who knows, there is 40 plus litres left on one bar and the low fuel buzzer sounding like a banshee. Only thing to knee jerk yamaha into doing something is if they are very publicly losing sales of their product to a competitor because of this issue

This video is the best I can do - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdWLb67qhNk. 35 litres left when the alarm starts going off.

Do you guys think inserting a simple Arduino module in between the sensor and the touch screen could solve the problem?
The Arduino could modify the signal so that when the tank still has fuel, the touch screen is made to think the fuel level is still good.
I haven't looked at the connectors yet... I will try to do that this weekend.
