This number (63.5L) is closer to the figure I came up with in this post (64L).

So, it seems the actual fuel tank capacity of these skis is around 63.5 litres / 16.75 gallons.

It's also worth noting that I fuel my ski up immediately before launching it before a ride, and fill it right up to the top (going very slowly, allowing for burping, etc, etc). I know you should allow for expansion, but with the stupid low fuel capacity on these SVHOs what are we meant to do!?

So, the question is, how the @!#$ did Yamaha manufacture and roll out a fuel tank that is 10% smaller than advertised?
How far did you actually get on that 63.5 liters?

So the real issue here is twofold. We can’t use the full 18.5 gallon stated capacity of the tank. And the fuel buzzer wants to go off after using anywhere from 9-11 gallons. This is disappointing from Yamaha beyond words. Spend 20k+ on a new machine and the effective cruise range of it completely sucks.

I sure hope someone from Yamaha is seeing this. Im starting to doubt my purchase and I haven’t even had it on the water yet. I like to take long trips. My GP 1800 lets me easily go 75 miles to the fuel buzzer. I’ll be lucky to get 50 on this new FX. Pissed off is an understatement.

That is what happened, per this post and the update in this newer post

The total usable fuel capacity, down to the level the fuel pump begins aerating, as about 64 liters.

The experiments recently done by Mr. GP1800 on a brand new, never in the water 2023 FX SVHO Limited show similar usable fuel tank capacity numbers.

Sorry guys, I didn't read the entire thread. I can understand everyone's issue. I have run my Sea Doos to the alarm and filled to test. It was just about the same as the manual stated. I have never run mine empty to check for actual fuel availability, but I will now.

I bought one of these from ebay

I plan to mess with it. If it works according to the instructions I should be able to recalibrate the fuel sender output to set off the low fuel alarm with about 3.5 gallons in the tank. let’s see what happens.

What's the best way to carry and secure a 5 litre fuel container on board of these skis, including if you are doing jumps/rough water etc?

Try and find something that fits in the space under the rear seat (the waterproof one)?

I’d go for at least 10 liters. You could probably devise a way to secure a fuel container in the front bin. It wont take up much space

The buzzer is the audible alert for ALL urgent problems.

With the buzzer disabled an engine overheat alarm or other malfunction would also be silenced.

I will do a top off and report back. I tend to fill every trip so rarely get to absolutely empty. I do this to try to avoid the alarm
