  • "Fuel Used" Number - How Accurate?

I have a 2022 FX Limited and am well aware of the fuel gauge/alarm issues.

That is why I always fill up tank before each ride (75 litres) and then go off the "Fuel Used" number.

However, today I ran out of fuel with 63.5 litres only used (apparently).

I thought that the "Fuel Used" sensor was meant to be extremely accurate?

Did you turn off the ski at all? Supposedly it resets to zero if you turn it off

Nope. And I was surprised that I could get the reading above, but I guess it only resets to zero once the entire electronics system is off. In my case, when I took the image above, the engine only had turned off (lack of fuel) and the electrics were yet to shutdown.

Making sure the screen goes black was the genius instructions Yamaha told me to do when I first complained about the alarm right after the fuel neck filler recall. It has been crap since then. Even doing this only worked until temporarily until I hit a wave. However I am not sure if going by fuel used was useful.

This might sound silly, but is there any special trick to filling a tank to capacity?

I go slow so as not to have fuel spurt out (like if you go too fast) and get it to the top level.

Do you need to move (drive) the trailer around to get the fuel to settle into empty parts of the tank or something before you can actually put the whole 75 litres in there?

Told you it would be a silly question! I'm just trying to figure out what happened

Many Yamaha enthusiasts have found the new relocated filler cap to be a bit problematic, particularly in its inclination to "burp" fuel when the fill rate is...

So I wonder what happened with me!

I fill up my tank super slow towards the end. I can actually get more than a gallon in doing it this way compared to just going until it clicks (medium to full blast).
