  • 2012 VXR running hot

I have a new to me 2012 VXR 1.8L that is running hot after about a mile of running. Took the thermostat out and it seemed to take a little longer to start running hot but it did. I removed the anode and this is what it looked like.

Based on the condition of this anode what is probably that the water jackets around the cylinders are more than likely clogged with calcium.
This was a saltwater ski prior to me. The engine still turns 7400 and runs 62 on the gps with an all stock air box and muffler so do believe it's worth saving.
    What is the forums thoughts?

flush block with anode out. put water in thermostat opening and let flow out anode. block is a bath tub and you found the biggest drain. You could try some salt away but don't know if its works or not. Don't get to concerned about the anode area, my looked horrible and it had 30 Horus on it. search my name on this forum and you will se some pics of anode cavity and head off.

I try to say this as much as often. IF YOU DO NOT INCREASE YOUR THROTTLE WHILE FLUSHING THE THERMOSTAT NEVER FULLY OPENS AND YOU ARE NOT FLUSHING YOUR ENGINE. I live in Houston even in the summer when water is 85F and 97F if I don't rev engine thermostat doesn't open. Rev to about 2500 rpm. go to back of ski, lift up rubber flap, you will see a 5/8" hole water should be pouring out of it not dripping. that is the thermostat/engine block discharge. All the water you see coming out is leaving the exhaust side. exhaust side never plugs its always the bathtub engine block.
