  • FZR with Broken Tilt Cable and Stiff Steering

Is the tilt something I have to fix or is there a way to easily/cheaply lock it into place? It's about $300 and looks like a pain to replace.
My steering is also tight. Do I have to get ripped off by Yamaha or can I buy something like a teleflex cable swap the ends.

No one can give me any feedback on the trim? I gave up and bought a new steering cable.

Your going to need to replace the trim cable as well. You may luck up and be able to find a used one somewhere.

I bought some stainless wire rope off McMaster and some cable nipples off Amazon. I think I'll be able to fix this for $10 and not have to pull the whole thing. I'll post my results and hopefully someone else can avoid getting screwed by yamaha to the tune of $300.

I fixed the trim. I fed in the stainless wire rope, attached a cable nipple on the nozzle end then set the length at the handle and cut off the excess. I did have to cut the cable flush with the end piece. I used a grinder.
