Six of us chartered the 61' Four Reel yesterday and fished the Mid Atlantic Rockfish Shootout in Virginia Beach Virginia. We did not catch a single fish. This was the second day of a three day tournament, two days in row with no fish weighed. Crazy.
All of the fish are 8-12 miles offshore, well beyond the three mile legal limit for Striped Bass.
My neighbor was out there looking for Blue Fin Tuna and ended up catching and releasing dozens of Striped Bass.
My Brother David made everyone up some cool team shirts just for the occasion.
Regardless of the tournament we still had a great time. On the boat were my Father John, Uncle Tommy of Boston, my brothers John and David and our friend Tina. Captain Rob and Robert did a great job trying to find fish. The boat Four Reel is a true battle wagon with all the creature comforts of home.
This was the first time in a while all the guys in my family got to be on the water together, so even though no fish were caught we had a great time and ate a lot donuts and sandwiches.
