The new 2019 Sea Doo FISHPRO
I had the opportunity to fly to Florida and go fishing on the new 2019 FISHPRO model. So much fun! I really enjoyed fishing off this ski and wanted to share my thoughts on it as well as share some pictures of my trip with you guys.
Sea Doo really thought of everything when designing this new ski. They picked the perfect platform with the ST3 hull. It's very wide and stable and best of all it has plenty of room in the footwells to move around. Sea Doo choose to give the FISHPRO model a flat seat which makes it really easy to slide back and forth on the seat making it easy to navigate around on the ski when fighting a fish, rigging up a line to access your tackle, grab a cold drink, etc. I'm a big guy and found that fishing off of this ski was super comfortable.
A feature of these new ST3 skis that I love is the easy access front storage. It's HUGE! I love how the whole hood/steering flips forward giving you easy direct access to all the goodies you have stowed.
Another huge plus is Sea Doo put angled gunwale footrests on the gunnels. This makes it real easy to sit sideways on the seat and prop your feet up on the gunnels when fighting a big fish. This puts you in a real good, and powerful position when fighting the big ones.
While the ST3 hull is wide and stable, it also has a very low center of gravity, which is important while idling around, or trolling out in rough water. We ran through some pretty big swells out in the Atlantic and this ski handled it effortlessly and I felt comfortable and stable at all times. The FISHPRO model has a 11.5 inch hull extension which adds to the stability and also gives more room on the back deck which accommodates the huge LINQ fishing cooler that quickly attaches and detaches to the rear deck using Sea Doo's LINQ system. The fishing cooler comes with 4 fishing rod holders that quickly attach, or detach and adjust from straight up, or angled which comes in super handy for trolling lures.
The FISHPRO model features the new 7.6" wide digital dash. Main functions of the dash are:
Speedometer
RPM
Clock
VTS Display
Water Temperature
Ski hours
Sport Mode
ECO mode
and a cool feature of the FISHPRO that's unique to this model is the trolling mode. This came in really handy for me while we were trolling lures out in the Gulf Stream. You can easily raise, or lower your trolling speed depending on the lures you are trolling and species your targeting.
Sea Doo came up with an ingenious way to mount a Garmin Color Echomap Plus 62CV Fish Finder to the ski. More details on this fish finder can be found by clicking here. The Garmin is located in an optimum position and it's angle is adjustable. It's in a perfect location and easily viewed and accessed while riding the ski. The fish finding system uses CHIRP technology for high definition images.
The FISHPRO features an 18.5 gallon fuel tank to ensure you have plenty of fuel for a long day out on the water. It also features a 155 HP Rotax engine which gives you maximum range and reliability. I've heard some people already complain, why only 155 HP? Well, this is a fishing ski, not a race ski, and the 155 HP is plenty adequate to do the job, plus it will still go 54-55 mph if you choose to do so. Most high dollar fishing boats won't even do that.
Another thing I absolutely LOVE about this ski is it comes included with the Sea Doo sound system. Can't have a day relaxing on the water fishing without listening to your favorite tunes.
So my opinion, I give it two thumbs up. Sea Doo really did a great job with this ski. If you like fishing, this is a great option for you guys, plus, Sea Doo kept pricing at only $14,799. And that price includes all the sounds system option and accessories such as the cooler, rod holders and yes, even the Garmin fish finder.
