Hold on there chief.... I met Rod in person at the MH 300 this year. He's a great guy. (and so is his son who I also met) Let me also say that I'm pretty conservative myslef and wouldn't vote for a Democrat if you held a gun to my head. I helped pit several skis at the MH 300 and we were nothing more than a bunch of rookies. The crew Rod was with were pitting next to us. When we got in a jam or needed another hand he would be one of the first guys to run over and help us out. So before you go blowing off about someone you know nothing about, maybe you should temper your opinionated ass a little.

You said something about me of having an education thus this being evidence of liberal credentials: I really have no education further than jr. high and am lucky I can read and write, let alone capitalize. I will not attack you as a person as I do not know you. I will also not seek to belittle you but I will say I have fought for my country and your right to have your views as well as my own.
I do not consider myself a liberal, nor a conservative. I am a patriot, more of a centrist really, and I do not like abortion or the symptoms that exist in our society that make it so prevalent. I do not always spell well either so please forgive me if my english and/or spelling is not to your standards or liking.
I will say this: Your response to me is a great example of what is wrong MY country, with the politics being what they are, a church on every corner but no money or help for our children or compassion and help for the disadvantaged. There is so much better that we as a country can do. But we are failing at just about every turn.
I will not try to change your opinion of me or my views, nor I yours. But we should respect eachother enough to have civil discourse and not belittle others just because we do not think alike or hold the same spiritual path. I stand by what I say, and my convictions are mine to bear, most willingly.

Thank you Beagleman62. I appreciate the kind words. It was a pleasure and honor to meet you and one day I will be out that way with my wife and daughter to DC to visit. When we do I would like to look you up and go to dinner or something if that would be okay. This probably will not happen until 2014. We will meet again. You impressed me as a great guy and coming all the way out as you did to support friends speaks volumes.

Although I don't like or enjoy state funded abortion I believe it is a "Procedure now so we don't continue to pay for everything later" call on many governmental types perspective.
The specter and gravity of the issue is much deeper than politics, etc. It is a personal decision made by 1 or 2 folks. To many it is murder and an abomination, and that is fine. To many it is not. That is fine. That is what makes America great. Freedom.
Many of us view welfare and the downtrodden with disgust, that taking ones money, (it isn't yours after your taxed) and using it to aid or help the poor or needy is a bad thing. I say our country is only as healthy and in as good of standing as our most needy, our poorest, and best measured by how we treat our youth and their education. I recieved my Jr. High School diploma in the mail. I did not even really graduate. I have made some poor choices in my life and my lack of education is 100% my responsibility and I have had a tough ride because of it. I cannot believe what we have done to our schools, to our greatest resource, our legacy, and our greatest responsibility...
The fact is alot of this spiral to where we are now began with the one we always seem to hold in such regard, but who's policies are continuing to reverberate around us in every facet of America: Ronald Reagan. He was great for our pride, and he definately spent the Soviets into oblivion, but like I said in my first post in this discussion; I am tired of getting trickeled down on.
I hope all of you vote. Another sign of just how disenfranchised we are as a country. (how many don't) A tear in the fabric, so to speak.

Utah has been up over 15% since the economy tanked. That's right. When things got bad, the untailored suits, goofy underwear, and Sunday intrusions at our front door people upped the charity ante far above their already lofty generosity and certainly any other demographic. In fact, because of government inefficiency, corruption, and waste, private charity by conservatives does more for the needy in the USA than any other source, including the government. I find it hard to believe a leftist ever willingly did anything for another man.
