Anatomy of a jet ski float repair

I have an sport port floating jet ski dock that is in need of repair, I've done some searching online and have not found much. I believe you can heat the float plastic with a heat gun to fix cracks and holes. And what is the best way to remove water? Also are they made up of individual cells or one large cell. Any insight is appreciated. Regards Rick
