Bought the CJ7 new in 1986, last year for them. Put over 200k miles on it and it's been to most of the high mountain trails in Colorado over the years. Got tire of rice burners smoking me, so we did a frame up restore that includes a Mark Campell C6-LS6 Corvette engine with 500 hp and over 400 lbs. of torgue. Has the smoothest power band i've driven. Build includes an 8.8 Explorer rear end with large disc breaks. Transmission is a World Class T-5 build by Long Industires and rated at 650 lbs. and works with transfer case as fittings are OEM. Inside are 9 Focal speakers driven by 4 channel amp. including down firing 15" Focal mono bass speaker in a box at rear window. Ultra Auto meter guages. CS aluminum radiator. Had it on the dyno and couldn't go over 3rd gear being afraid it would come loose with the agressive Super Swamper tires. It ran over 120 mph in 3rd, so probably around 200 wide open in 5th. We did custom springs that are 50% wider than OEM with Bilstein shocks. Surprisingly it's very stable with the 33 x 12 inch tires w/10" rims, even at 100 mph. Wouldn't want to have to turn fast however. But i do pull our boat several thousand miles to various lakes and it doesn't even know the Seadoo 150 Speedster is there. We put a .51 fifth gear, so i get 24 mpg on highway without the boat. Only doing 2k rpm at 70 mph.
